ET Edge, an initiative of the Economic Times organised the “Future of Learning Forum – Classrooms of the Future” on 19th November 2014 at Mumbai. The keynote address was delivered by Shri Vinod Tawde, Hon’ble Minister of HRD, Govt of Maharashtra. Keeping in mind the growing importance of Physical Education, Sports and Fitness Programs in Schools, one of the key Panel discussions included “Importance of Structured Physical Education in Schools”.

The session on “Importance of Structured Physical Education in Schools” was moderated by Mr. Sujit Panigrahi, CEO, Fitness365, and had Mr. Saumil Majumdar, CEO, EduSports, Mr. Vasant Bhardwaj, Co-founder, Tenvic and Mr. Sudhansu Fadnis, Director Sports Seed. The panelists covered a range of aspects – the need for structured physical education, the benefits of an effective sports and fitness program in bringing in good health, active living and providing important social and life skills. There was healthy discussions on how to get over difficulties in terms or infrastructure and time to play. The idea of getting children to play during and outside the school hours where school leaders, teachers and parents have important stakes was discussed in depth. Age-appropriate curriculum and activities, assessment methodologies and monitoring were key components of the discussion. Mr. Sujit Panigrahi made it a highly interactive session by engaging the school leaders and teachers in getting their  comments on the different discussion points and getting the panelists and other school leaders to share their experiences and views.

Other sessions included “Future Policies of K-12 and Higher Education: Achieving Global Standards of education in India”, “Institutional Collaborations in Teaching and Learning”, “Digital Learning Technologies: Road Map for imparting Modern Education in India”, “highlighting the need for privatisation of Indian Education”. The  speakers for other sessions included Dr. Pranabesh Ray, Dean Academics, XLRI, Dr. SS Mantha, Chairman, AICTE, Mr. Anuraag Saxena, CEO, South Asia, World Education Foundation, Ms. Eliza Hilton, Founder, Flow India, Mr. Deepak Lamba, President TCL-BCCL amongst others.

IIM Rohtak hosted its 3rd NCR Business Summit on November 1, 2014. The welcome address was delivered by Professor P Rameshan, Director IIMR, who emphasized on the significance of this modest effort, in times where the only constant thing is change. The summit commenced with the keynote address by Mr. Aayush Munjal (President, Majestic Auto Ltd.) who underscored the need for innovation in light of high market competition and ever increasing consumer demands.

Mr. Sujit Panigrahi (CEO, Fitness365) was recognized as the most conspicuous “New Generation Entrepreneur” in the NCR region for his contribution in building new sustainable business model in the area of Sports, Physical Education and Fitness. Mr. Panigrahi drew parallel between running a business and running a marathon. Any Business has long term and short term goals and require the right and skillful planning, preparation, sustenance and setting milestones for success.

Mr. Aayush Munjal (CEO, Majestic Auto) and Mr. Sunil Goyal (COO, SOPRA Group) were given the award for valuable business contribution in the NCR region.

Mr. Jain mentioned that the two important yardsticks for measuring excellence of a company are customer satisfaction and employee satisfaction as the only differentiating factor for any company in today’s world is Human. Mr Rajesh Jain told about the importance of proactive and early anticipation in various facets of business. Mr. Goyal pointed out that what has really changed is nothing but the speed of change.

Mr. Khanna highlighted the challenges faced by any company are related to its people- their quality, integrity and retention. Mr. Singh rightly pointed out that cross functionality is a desired trait in every manager. Mr. Sharma shared an anology that the business is a combination lock, which works only when all the keys fall into place.

Mr. Narayanan, Mr. Saito and Mr. Sujit Panigrahi shared their valuable insights on the ground breaking realities prevalent today. The first panel concluded by sighting proactive customer service, innovative product offering and a passionate team as the Success Mantra for any flourished business organization.

The afternoon session also saw deliberations on “Accelerating the Growth of my Business: The Road Ahead”. The speakers for this discussion were Mr. Deep Arora (Director, i3Indiya Group), Ms Juhi Rajput (MD, CNFC Media Pvt. Ltd), Mr Veer Sagar (Chairman and CEO, Selectronic Equipment and Services Pvt. Ltd), Mr Manuraj Jain (Managing Partner, Vincullam Capital Partners) and Mr Manoj Tibrewal (Executive VP, Au Financiers (India) Limited).

PHD Global Sports Convention 2014 focused on “Sports for All-The Track Ahead”

PHD Chamber’s Culture & Sports Committee organised The PHD Global Sports Convention- 2014- ‘Sports for All-The Track Ahead’ on August 12, 2014 and also to celebrate the International Youth Day. The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Sharad Jaipuria, President – PHD Chamber and inaugural address by Mr. Ajit M Sharan, IAS, Secretary Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.

Distinguished panelists included: Prof. Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Patron, Indian Association of Sports Medicine & Secretary of University Grants Commission Delhi, Dr. Gurdeep Singh, Joint Secretary (Sports), Association of Indian Universities, Dr. D.K. The second panel discussion on ‘Innovative Strategies for Sports Development’ touched upon Industry Partnerships and shared the Best Practices being done on grassroots levels. This panel was moderated by Mr. O.P. Bhatia, CEO, Corporate Games. Other distinguished panelists were: Prof G L Khanna, Dean, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Manav Rachna International University, Mr. Siddhartha Upadhyay, Founder and Secretary General, Stairs,Mr. Chetan Misra, Managing Director, The Football Link and Dr. Bimla Pawar Assistant Professor-Physical Education and Convenor, Delhi University.

Session on “Importance of Structured Sports & Fitness programs in Schools” at India Learning Expo 2014

India Learning Expo 2014 was the India’s largest Conference & Exposition about the Business of Learning. It provided an annual platform for school leaders, school administrators, teachers, educators and school products suppliers in India to discover the latest developments in educational resources and learning technology.
