ACTIVITY SET-UP AND PROCEDURE
EQUIPMENT:
Marked area appropriate size for age, 1 ball between the group of players.
SET-UP:
ACTIVITY PROCEDURES:
- Players set up in a circle.
- The aim of the drill is to keep the ball off the ground for as long as possible with the players only using their heads.
- Players need to head the ball up so next player has time to prepare body shape for heading the ball on and also to observe the position of the next player.
Progressions:
- Increase / decrease the distance between players
- When a player has head the ball he must do an activity before he can head the ball again, like a press up or sit up

EQUIPMENT:
Marked area appropriate size for age, balls and cones
SET-UP:
ACTIVITY PROCEDURES:
- Players set up as shown in the diagram. 3 v 3, small goals, no goalkeepers.
- Small sided possession game.
- Normal rules apply but players can only score with a header.
To allow for success an area can be marked near each goal where defenders can not go in to so the forward has a free header.
Progressions:
- Use bigger goals to guarantee success
- Add goalkeepers

Forehand Receiving
Receiving Hand Position
- Dribbling grip with a vertical stick and left hand away from the body
- Handshake grip with hands split – right hand can be more than halfway down the stick, but not too low
- The left elbow should be as high as your shoulder in front of your body
- Your thumb is pointed down towards the ground, and
Body Position
Athletic Stance
Line up the right of center, in line with the incoming ball
Skill Execution
- Form a triangle between feet and stick head, flex the knees and create a ‘pocket’ into which the ball will be collected
- Your left foot slightly forward of your right. Angle stick forward (the left hand should be further away from your body than the stick head)
- Pick up the line of the ball
- “Soft Hands” as ball contacts stick
TRAPPING DRILLS
Pairs Trap:
Players in pairs approximately 5m apart Player 1 push passes to Player 2 P2 traps on their forestick P2 push passes back to P1
Variations: Reverse stick trap
Trapping on the move (mobile)

ACTIVITY SET-UP AND PROCEDURE
EQUIPMENT:
Marked area appropriate size for age, balls and cones
SET-UP:
ACTIVITY PROCEDURES:
- Players set up as shown in the diagram.
- 3 players act as servers for 1 working player.
- The 1st server throws the ball and the working player has to make a decision on how to deal with it depending on the flight, height and speed of the ball.
- They can either head downwards through gates 3, defensively towards gates 2 or long and high defensively towards gate 1
- After 3 attempts rotate working player.
Progressions:
- Increase / decrease the distance between players, servers and the coned gates
- Working player to call for the ball
- Servers throw in a random order
- Servers to have 3 balls each so working player has 9 attempts before changing

ACTIVITY SET-UP AND PROCEDURE
EQUIPMENT:
Marked area, 4 cones, 3 balls for 9 players
SET-UP:
ACTIVITY PROCEDURES:
- In a square, 3 teams of 3 work, 2 end players and 1 working player.
- The aim of the drill is for the working player to exchange passes with his end players, dribble across the area avoiding other players and balls to pass to opposite end player.
- Continuous practice.
- Centre player works for 2 minutes then swaps with an end player.
Progressions:
- End players must take 2 touches, one to control and one to pass
- Working players to concentrate on the quality of 1st touch in the direction they want to go (in to space towards opposite end)
- Increase / decrease the size of the area
- Have a competition between the working players to see how many passes they can make to end players

ACTIVITY SET-UP AND PROCEDURE
EQUIPMENT:
Marked area, 1 ball.
SET-UP:
ACTIVITY PROCEDURES:
- Players make a circle, one player stands in the middle, the player in the middle calls for the ball from the starting player, controls it and passes to the next player in the circle.
- Then calls for the ball again, moving round from player to player until the whole of the circle is completed.
- Then swap middle player.
Progressions:
- Serving player to throw ball to head, knee or chest
- 2 touch (control & pass)
- Encourage players to increase tempo
