Basic Short Skipping Rope – One per 2 persons
Activity Description
- Partners face each other
- One partner turns the rope (turner)
- Both partners jump together
Progression
EASY: Partners face each other, put their hand on each other’s shoulders and practice jumping at the same time without the rope
HARD: Try different footwork skills whilst skipping face to face
CHALLENGE: Can the partner without the rope jump around on the sport?

Activity Description
- Partners stand side by side holding a handle of the same rope in their outside hand
- Both Partners turn the rope and jump together
Progression
EASY: Partners stand side by side and practice jumping at the same time without a rope.
HARD: Try “in and Out” (Partners stand outside the rope and turn it at a steady pace. One enters the rope, jumps once and exits. This is repeated by their partner. Repeat with both partners entering the rope)
CHALLENGE: Can you and a partner perform any foot stunts inside the rope?

Activity Description
- Partners face each other and jump together
- Partner with the rope jumps to the side
- Partner without the rope continues jumping on the spot
- Partner with the rope jumps back and continues skipping face to face
Progression
EASY: Try Face-to-Face skipping.
HARD: Add more people in a line next to the partner without the rope who all jump in time on the spot. The partner with the rope moves down the line jumping with everyone in the group in turn)

Equipment Required
Basic Short Skipping Rope – Two per 2 persons
Activity Description
- Partner stand side by side each holding a single rope
- Partner Swap the inside rope handles
- Both partners turn the ropes and jump together
Progression
Easy: Partner stands side by side and practice skipping at the same time with their own rope without swapping handles.
Hard: Try link skipping 180-degree turn- both partners swing arms inward and turn 180 degrees to face the opposite direction and jump backward
Challenge: Join up with other pairs and see how many people you can get link skipping together in a line. How many jumps can you do?

Equipment Required
Basic Long Skipping Rope – One per 3 or more persons
Activity Description
- Two people hold the ends of the rope, making sure it’s flat on the ground.
- Shake the rope so it looks like a snake, while the kids jump over it.
- If the foot of the jumping kid touches the rope, it’s his/her turn to shake it!
Progression
Easy: Shakers can slow down the speed of the long rope
Hard: Shakers can move the rope faster or add a parallel rope making it 2 to jump across
Challenge: Ad twists & turns while jumping over the rope.
