Aim

  • Keep the ball noodlette for maximum possible time till it hits the floor
  • Understand self-space while striking with hand or noodle (ground striking)

Equipment Required

1 Noodlette & 1 Noodle per student, 1 Spot Marker per student, Hoops

Play Area Set-Up

  1. Create boundaries for a large activity area with large cones.
  2. Each player will have a hockey stick (noodle) and a hockey puck (noodlette).

Activity Description –

Warmup Activity – NOODLE HANDBALL

  1. Each student will need a noodlette for this activity.
  2. Starting on one side of open space, each student will attempt to paddle their noodlette with their hands flat across space.
  3. The object is to keep the noodlette in the air while moving forward toward the other side of the space.
  4. Students must keep the noodlette away from their bodies while striking it with either hand.
  5. If the noodlette falls to the ground, pick it up, and continue.

 Main  Activity – NOODLE HOCKEY

  1. Each player will have a hockey stick (demi-noodle) and a hockey puck (noodlette). Students will practice moving their puck around the playing area while developing their hand/eye coordination and aerobic endurance.
  2. Place spot markers or cones on the floor as goals and allow students to score points while they move their pucks.
  3. Remind students of the proper way to hold a hockey stick
  4. Keep their knees bent while moving to keep from injuring their back muscles.
